I love the gift of time and experiences, but I would be lying if I said I didn’t also enjoy giving and receiving presents. I adore trying something new, falling in love and then sharing when anyone asks for a recommendation. Throughout the year, when I find a new favorite, I like to match it to a special person in my life and give it to them for Christmas. It’s not about cost, brand or trend, but rather an enthusiasm to give something I love to someone I love.
As the the holiday season is now in full swing, I decided I wanted to switch things up for my posts in December and share a few of my favourite things. It’s my take on a gift guide that highlights some of my tops favs from this past year. I’m breaking the guide up into parts - part 1: adults, part 2: kids, part 3: dining out. This week I’m sharing some things I’ve newly fallen in love with. So grab a mug of something warm or a glass of something bubbly, put on a holiday playlist, scroll and enjoy. I hope you like!
Happy Holidays xo
Sending love from where I sit,
N
* Please note, nothing listed below has been received complimentary from a business or brand. They are just things I have purchased, fell in love with and wanted to share.
HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE |Part 1|
Fashion/Accessories
I have a non-negotiable when it comes to what I wear under my clothes. My bras and underwear have to meet the perfect trifecta of comfort, fit and style. Knix has been my go to for many years now, but one of their newest arrivals is by far my most fav. The adjustable pullover bra was love at first try for me and I immediately bought more than one. For underwear, I recently became a convert to lulu’s under ease line. I cannot express how obsessed I am with it’s softness.
Revolution Adjustable Pullover Bra can be found online or in store at Knix.
Under Ease Underwear can be found online or in a Lululemon store.
I switched over to a solo loop band for my Apple watch a few months ago and I just love the simple design. The ease of putting it on and taking it off, plus the variety of styles instantly won me over.
Solo Loop Apple Watch Strap can be found online or in the Apple store.
I have been a big fan of essential oils for a while now, but it’s only been this past year that I discovered a Canadian brand that makes the most delicious smelling roll on blends. I just finished my first bottle (breath) and will definitely be ordering more.
Lumia Botanicals Infuse can be found on the Lumia Botanicals website.
I’m a fan of Melissa Wood Tepperberg’s Pilates-yoga inspired workouts. In the past I’ve been an avid runner, HITT workout, lengthy exercise person. However for the past few years I’ve craved more slow, mindful and short workouts. MWH is all of that plus super effective. So this year I’m asking Santa for the MWH prop kit because I know it is something I’ll love and regularly use.
The Prop Kit can be purchased through the Melissa Wood’s Health website.
The WWH App can be downloaded from the Apple app store. It comes with a free 7 day day trial.
If I had it my way I would be barefoot all the time. However living in a place where temps dip below zero means I have to reluctantly give into sock season when Fall/Winter comes around. Socks that have made even me, an anti-sock lover, a sock fan are Pokoloko’s pima socks. I have them in all colours and can attest to their comfort and durability. When these socks aren’t on my feet during the colder months, I’m wearing one of my fav slippers. I find Glerups to be perfect for all seasons - plus they are Canadian!
Pima Terry Tie Dye Socks can be purchased online, at a Pokoloko store or any Pokoloko retailer.
Glerups can be purchased online from the Glerups website or at many other retailers such as MEC, Soft Moc.
Home/Books
My love for candles runs deep! During any season there is usually one or two candles lit in my home at any time. Candles offer instant calming and cozy vibes to me; however because it is something burning in my home I’m mindful I which candles I use. My all time fav candle is hands down the homemade ones from Anupaya. The design, scent and burning time are unbeatable in my opinion.
Anupaya Homemade Candles can be purchased online or in person at the resort (if you’ve never been, this is your reason to visit, stay and grab a candle).
Good smelling soap is also a home must have for me. This past year I started buying my soap from a local company called KINGSMAY. The Amalfi scent is incredible. Unfortunately it sells out quickly because (as per their recent social media posts) production is now being focused on smaller batches. So I always stock up when there is availability online. When that soap isn’t available, another fav soap of mine is from Telford.
KINGSMAY Liquid Soap can be purchased on the KINGSMAY website.
Telford can be purchased online or at other retailers. I got my last bottle at The Royal Hotel.
In the age of technology I know most planning and scheduling is done online, but I still love the feeling of a paper yearly agenda. This is something I use more at work, but I’ve bought one for 2024 that is so beautiful I think I’ll have to use it for both work and home. The agenda is from one of my favourite poets and is inspired by one of her amazing books.
Rupi’s Milk and Honey 2024 Agenda can be purchased directly from Rupi Kaur’s website or from other retailers such as Indigo or Amazon.
One of my favourite simple indulgences is a glass of wine. That first pour and sip from a fresh wine glass is up there for me. My most favourite wine glasses are those from Fable. I have many Fable dinner and glassware and love them all, but my wine glasses top the list. I find the size and simple style to be what wine lover’s dreams are made of. They are great for both red and white, as well as rosé.
Fable Wine Glasses can be purchased online from Fable, but are also sold from many other online or in-store retailers.
I’m a big reader and use my kindle daily, but still some books have to be in hard copy. Brianna Wiest’s latest book is that for me. She is one of my fav non-fiction authours. The Pivot Year is currently on my bedside table and has become a page a day type read that I’ve incorporated into my medication practice.
The Pivot Year can be purchased online. Mine is is the Indigo exclusive version.
